The NHL waiver news of the day has sparked reactions from several Montreal Canadiens fans.

According to the always well-informed Elliotte Friedman, two names have just been placed on waivers.
It would be forward Mitchell Chaffee of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Brett Leason, newly signed by the Washington Capitals.

Chaffee (TB)

Newly-signed Brett Leason (WASH)"

Mitchell Chaffee and Brett Leason Catch the Attention of Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens

This news has reignited rumors in Montreal, and many believe Kent Hughes is keeping an eye on the situation.
Chaffee, 27, is a 6'1" right winger known for his very physical play and constant presence around the net.
He recorded 18 points in 66 games with the Lightning in the NHL last season, before playing 7 games with Tampa Bay again this year.
Here's the clip of his first goal scored last year.
His profile resembles some players the Canadiens have recently targeted to stabilize their depth lines - a bit like Joe Veleno!
I think a player of this type could help strengthen the team's offensive depth.
As for Brett Leason, he was also placed on waivers by the Washington Capitals after signing a one-year, two-way contract (NHL/AHL) this morning.
He's 26 years old and a giant at 6 feet 5 inches tall!
Last season, he scored 5 goals and 17 points in 62 games with the Anaheim Ducks.
If he is not claimed within 24 hours, he will be assigned to the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' AHL affiliate.
It remains to be seen whether Kent Hughes or another GM will decide to make a move before Tuesday's game in Seattle.
