Since the start of his very young career, Lane Hutson has continued to impress hockey observers.

With already 9 points in 10 games, the young Montreal Canadiens defenseman seems to have proven his place among the best at his position.
And it's not just anyone saying it.
Three established NHL stars, Quinn Hughes, Zach Werenski and Cale Makar, have spoken up to praise the American defenseman.

Quinn Hughes, Zach Werenski and Cale Makar Impressed by Lane Hutson's Talent and His Impact in Montreal

As shared by the account HabsOnReddit, Quinn Hughes, captain of the Vancouver Canucks, made extremely admiring comments about the young Canadiens player.
"I think he's definitely very similar to me. I think for him, he's just gonna have to keep continue to get better and better in his progressions. It's not always gonna be smooth sailing. He obviously had a really good season but it's not gonna be smooth sailing the next 15 years of his career."

The star defenseman added that playing in Montreal is clearly not easy for a young player, but that Hutson seems to have the right mindset to succeed there... and I completely agree with that!
"He's just gonna continue to learn, not only about the hockey side but about himself, what type of person he wants to be. I'm sure he's gonna step into a leadership role at some point. He'll continue to grow every aspect of himself. One thing I've noticed about him is that he's got a lot of passion, so he's gonna continue to get better which is exciting for Montreal." Hughes added
For his part, Zach Werenski of the Blue Jackets mentioned the importance of Hutson's role for the growth of American hockey:
"What he did was incredible, 60+ points, I was definitely following along. The plays he makes, how he plays the game, when you play against him, it's hard not to notice him. He's so gifted, I'm a big Lane Hutson fan.

I think it's great for USA Hockey... I'm a big Lane Hutson fan. I think he's gonna do great things."

Finally, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche didn't mince words either:
"It's pretty amazing. Any player that comes in his first year and is able to produce and find ways to help the team, I think it's a pretty incredible feat. He's only going to continue to get better and better. I think there's another aspect to his game that people haven't seen yet...

He seems like an incredible player. I'm excited to see how he evolves into an even better offensive player and also defensive player as well."

- Cale Makar
Hutson, who recorded 66 points in his first full NHL season last year, continues to prove night after night that he already belongs among the elite.
In my opinion, he's truly carving a path similar to Hughes himself - but with even more offensive flair.
In my view, if his pace keeps up (and I don't see why it wouldn't), Hutson could very well enter the Norris Trophy conversation sooner than we think.
