Milan Lucic Makes Long-Awaited NHL Comeback with a Brand-New Team
Milan Lucic was a standout player for the Boston Bruins for many years, and he is now back in the NHL.
We have just learned that the forward has found a new team through a professional tryout.
In 2006, the Boston Bruins selected Milan Lucic in the 2nd round, 50th overall, in the NHL Draft.
The Vancouver native enjoyed much success with the organization alongside players such as Patrice Bergeron,
Brad Marchand, David Krejci, Zdeno Chara, Dennis Seidenberg, Tuukka Rask, and Tim Thomas.
After winning the Stanley Cup with the team in 2011, Lucic was involved in a trade to Los Angeles a few years later, in exchange for Martin Jones,
Colin Miller, and a 1st-round pick in 2015.
He ultimately played only one season with the Kings before testing the free-agent market. At that point, he decided to join the young
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
After three years, Milan Lucic was again involved in a trade that sent him to the Calgary Flames along with a 3rd-round pick in 2020 in exchange for forward James Neal.
Unfortunately for the left winger, he was never able to regain his form, going from a 50-point season to seasons of 20, 20, 23, 21, and 19 points.
In 2023-24, he returned to the Boston Bruins, but in addition to suffering an injury, he became embroiled in a major controversy due to domestic violence allegations against his partner.
Milan Lucic Returns to the NHL with a High-Profile Professional Tryout
The Blues are bringing Milan Lucic to training camp on a professional tryout agreement (PTO), the club confirmed.
Lucic has not played since entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program in Nov. 2023 after being charged with assault and battery stemming from an alleged domestic dispute.
He will join the lineup alongside
Jordan Kyrou, and it will be interesting to see if he can succeed in this challenge.
