The rumors about the possible Jake Guentzel trade were persistent, and now it's a done deal. We've known since last night that he's heading to Carolina, but the details were not available.
It's now confirmed, and the Hurricanes paid a hefty price to acquire him. As they say: to receive, you must give.
Initially, rumors suggested that Kent Hughes and the Canadiens would act as a third party in this transaction to retain salary.
In the end, it wasn't necessary, and Kent Hughes still has $5.6 million at his disposal to take on salary by the end of the season, receiving a prospect in return.
