The rumors about the possible Jake Guentzel trade were persistent, and now it's a done deal. We've known since last night that he's heading to Carolina, but the details were not available.

Initially, rumors suggested that Kent Hughes and the Canadiens would act as a third party in this transaction to retain salary.

In the end, it wasn't necessary, and Kent Hughes still has $5.6 million at his disposal to take on salary by the end of the season, receiving a prospect in return.

With the trade deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see if he decides to get involved in another hot topic across the NHL.
