Breaking news for Arber Xhekaj and the Montreal Canadiens
Arber Xhekaj has been absent due to injury since November 16th, when he suffered a solid check from Ivan Barbashev of the Vegas Golden Knights.
The fact that he was not part of the team's recent trip out West suggested he might be back, but it was a surprise when the defenseman was placed on the injured list towards the end of the journey.
Forward
Joel Armia was called up for reinforcement, as there was already Mattias Norlinder as a spare among the defensemen. However, this personnel move turned out to be short-lived.
According to Renaud Lavoie on BPM Sports this morning, Xhekaj is expected to come off the injured list, and he could be back in action as early as Wednesday.
It remains uncertain, but it's still good news to know that he won't be out for much longer.
Therefore, it's expected that either Norlinder or Struble will be sent back to the American Hockey League, but my hunch is that the Swede will join the Rocket.
