The Montreal Canadiens and their fans found their smiles again Thursday night by securing a convincing 5-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
At only 22 years old, the young Quebec forward continues to prove that Kent Hughes made a very good move when he acquired him this summer.
A great tradition returns to the Montreal Canadiens locker room
But beyond the victory, another image caught attention after the game.
This tradition, well known among Tricolore fans, had been absent for some time. It looks like it's back this year to highlight the most deserving player after each victory.
I must admit that I really enjoy seeing this kind of tradition. It reminds me a bit of the game ball in the NFL, a long-standing football tradition.
Matheson, who collected two points against the Red Wings, clearly appreciated the recognition.
As for Martin St-Louis, his message was clear after the game: he wants to build a culture of hard work and enjoyment in the locker room.
"We played a real team game," said the head coach.
"That's the kind of collective effort we want to see all season."

One thing's for sure: yesterday's win felt good!
