Former Canadiens forward Jonathan Drouin will meet the NHL Player Safety Department today after a dangerous play in yesterday's Islanders vs. Penguins game.

The incident occurred late in the game, when Drouin delivered a violent stick to the face of Penguins player Connor Dewar. The action immediately drew the attention of the officials and the league office.

This is another twist for Drouin, who has had a strong start to the season under Patrick Roy, but impulsive actions like this could hurt him.

Good start for the Islanders despite the loss

Despite the loss to the Penguins, the Islanders delivered an encouraging performance last night.
Young Matthew Schaefer impressed in his NHL debut, showing calm and confidence in just over 17 minutes of ice time.
Patrick Roy's men played with much more speed than usual, and several offensive sequences showed real progress.
Even though the penalty kill proved costly, the team effort and Sorokin's solid performance suggest that this team is on the right track.
