Minutes after the signing of the 5th overall pick David Reinbacher, Kent Hughes, in his capacity as the general manager of the Laval Rocket, announced that he had reached terms on a one-year, two-way contract (AHL/ECHL) with former QMJHL star defenseman Noah Laaouan.
The defenseman will join the Canadiens' AHL affiliate for the 2023-2024 season, having played with the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) and the Atlanta Gladiators (ECHL) last season. He notably recorded 8 goals and 15 assists in 57 games in the ECHL last year.
At 22 years old, Laaouan was considered one of the top defensemen in the QMJHL in his final year of junior hockey with the Charlottetown Islanders. He had a highly productive offensive season, tallying 12 goals and 48 assists (60 points) in 68 games with the Maritime-based team.
