It is often said that the draft is not an exact science, and that is completely true. The evidence is easy to see for the Canadiens, as no first-round pick is currently on the team, or dominating anywhere, between Carey Price (2005) and Cole Caufield (2019).
There's a young player who was chosen in the 5th round in 2021 who has just made his NHL debut. Joshua Roy simply exploded after being selected by the Canadiens, with two fantastic seasons of 119 and 99 points with the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
Now 20 years old, he has collected 30 points in 34 games in the American Hockey League, which is more than excellent.
That's what we see from him, anyway. In his third game in the big league, he was the best forward on his team in a 3-2 victory against the Devils.
