Despite a strong training camp, the Montreal Canadiens' 19-year-old prospect, Owen Beck, was cut by the organization and will thus make a return to the Peterborough Petes in the OHL.
There's no doubt that the 2022 second-round pick is destined for a very promising future in the NHL. In fact, after scoring 24 goals and 42 assists (66 points) in 60 games last season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him break out offensively in the junior ranks this year.
However, according to information reported by Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now, Owen Beck could be traded during the season, specifically after the World Junior Championship, to join one of the top teams in the OHL for the playoffs.
Moreover, he also suggests that the Habs' forward might join the London Knights who, once again this season, are expected to be a powerhouse in the CHL.
One thing is certain, we are eagerly looking forward to watching his progression throughout the season. He appears very close to being able to make the jump to the NHL. Excelling at both ends of the ice and possessing a very complete style of play, Owen Beck is often compared to a former Montreal Canadien, namely Phillip Danault.
