An interesting trade proposal with 4 elements between Habs and Jets
Most trade proposals are often outlandish or unbalanced, but here comes a fictitious trade offer involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets that stands out for being interesting and logical!
According to various reliable sources, it is known that the Winnipeg Jets are actively seeking a center who can play in the top nine.
Sean Monahan was the logical choice in their sights, but he chose Columbus! Then,
Adam Henrique was on their radar, followed by
Blake Lizotte. Both of the latter opted for other destinations. The list has become thin!
However, the Jets might be interested in a player like
Christian Dvorak. After all, Dvorak is no worse than Lizotte and quite similar to Adam Henrique, albeit with lower offensive production!
Journalist Scott Billeck from Winnipeg has linked
Justin Barron's name to the Jets. The Canadiens defenseman's brother plays as a forward with the Winnipeg Jets.
Morgan Barron and Justin Barron on the same team, why not?
The Montreal Canadiens have not been subtle in their interest in
Rutger McGroarty, a young American forward who produced 52 points at the University of Michigan last season and is keen to continue his professional career elsewhere than Winnipeg.
Trade between the Canadiens and the Jets involving Rutger McGroarty, Christian Dvorak, and Justin Barron?
Would you make a trade like this:
To Montreal:
Rutger McGroarty
To Winnipeg:
Christian Dvorak
Justin Barron
1st-round pick acquired from the Flames
In perspective, the Winnipeg Jets would acquire a defensively responsible third-line center capable of producing 35 points in the NHL regular season.
Defenseman Justin Barron has interesting characteristics in terms of offensive flair. He could join Winnipeg as a sixth or seventh defenseman as early as 2024-2025!
The key is the first-round pick, likely to be that of the Florida Panthers, which was acquired for free from Calgary in the Sean Monahan trade. This means a pick between the 20th and 28th next year. It would be surprising to see Florida make the final four for the third consecutive year. The team has lost key players like
Brandon Montour,
Oliver Ekman-Larsson,
Ryan Lomberg, and other depth players. The core is still present, but having participated in two finals in two years, the players will be tired, and injuries could occur to key players!
This trade could make a lot of sense for both teams.
Rutger McGroarty, 20, scored 52 points, including 16 goals, in 36 games this season in the NCAA. McGroarty also showcased his talent on the international stage this winter at the World Junior Hockey Championship, with nine points in seven games.
He is very promising and would be a significant addition for Kent Hughes!
