At 33 years old, Brendan Gallagher is set to begin his 14th season with the Montreal Canadiens. A respected veteran and fan favorite, he's on the verge of achieving a major milestone in franchise history.

Back in June 2010, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Pierre Gauthier conducted his very first draft as General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, having taken over from Bob Gainey a few months earlier in February.
Although the two drafts under Gauthier's reign ultimately turned out to be disastrous, he can still take pride in making one of the best late-round picks in team history: selecting Brendan Gallagher in the 5th round, 147th overall.
Number 11 was the only real success story for the club in the 2010 draft. At 22nd overall, management had selected Jarred Tinordi. The other picks-Mark MacMillan, Morgan Ellis, and John Westin-never played a game in the NHL.
In 2011, Pierre Gauthier and his staff chose Nathan Beaulieu, Josiah Didier, Olivier Archambault, Magnus Nygren, Darren Dietz, Daniel Pribyl, and Colin Sullivan. As you can see, Gallagher was the only good draft pick across those two years.

Brendan Gallagher Could Break Into the Top 10 Goal Scorers in Montreal Canadiens History This Season

The Edmonton native is beloved by Canadiens management and fans alike. Last season, he had several strong moments, finishing with 21 goals and 38 points over 82 games.

With a total of 464 points since the beginning of his career, Gallagher now ranks 15th among players drafted in 2010. Ahead of him are 13 first-round picks, with Mark Stone (6th round) and Tyler Toffoli (2nd round) rounding out the top 15. Tyler Seguin, Taylor Hall, and Jeff Skinner make up the top three.
Brendan Gallagher has scored 239 goals-and the next few will be especially meaningful. Why? With just 20 more goals, number 11 will officially surpass Mario Tremblay (258) and enter the top 10 goal scorers in Montreal Canadiens history.
That elite top 10 includes legends such as Maurice Richard (1st), Guy Lafleur (2nd), Jean Béliveau (3rd), Yvan Cournoyer (4th), Steve Shutt (5th), Bernard Geoffrion (6th), Jacques Lemaire (7th), Henri Richard (8th), and Aurèle Joliat (9th).
With those next 20 goals, Gallagher will pass Mats Naslund (14th), Claude Provost (13th), Dickie Moore (12th), Howie Morenz (11th), and Mario Tremblay (10th). He has already moved ahead of Bob Gainey and Toe Blake.
What a career! Bravo, Gally!
