The Laval Rocket officially part ways with Kevin Mandolese after training camp in news that surprised several fans this Tuesday.

The team confirmed on its official account that goaltender Kevin Mandolese has been released from his training camp, thus ending his time with the organization.

25-year-old goaltender from Blainville had also attended the Montreal Canadiens' camp earlier this fall.
According to information reported by RDS, Mandolese played 19 games last year in the American League with the Colorado Eagles, posting a record of 11 wins, 6 losses, a 2.87 goals-against average, and a .903 save percentage.

A sixth-round pick by the Ottawa Senators in 2018, Mandolese even had the chance to defend the Senators' net three times in 2022-2023.
He then posted a solid .916 save percentage, despite a 1-2 record. Having seen him play in those games, I find that he was very solid.
Traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 2024, he joined the Rocket this fall hoping to earn a role in the Canadiens organization.
I find it unfortunate to see a local goaltender lose his spot, especially since he seemed ready to fight for a backup role.
It remains to be seen if the Blainville-born goaltender will manage to find a new team in the coming days. Whatever happens next, we sincerely wish him good luck in the continuation of his career.
