Alexander Zharovsky's return to the KHL was highly anticipated, and one can say that the young prospect of the Montreal Canadiens didn't take long to make an impression in the big league.
For a player only 18 years old, the pressure was enormous. Some were already doubting his ability to keep up with such a demanding league, but Zharovsky responded in the best possible way.
As Marc-Olivier Beaudoin noted:
"Montreal Canadiens prospect Alexander Zharovsky scores his first goal of the season in the KHL in his first game. He also recorded an assist.
Doesn't seem overwhelmed at all.. it would be surprising if he were eventually demoted!" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
Beyond the simple statistics, it is above all his composure that impressed observers. Being directly involved in two goals
upon his return from injury demonstrates not only his talent but also his renewed confidence.
Alexander Zharovsky Makes His Mark in the KHL and Reassures the Montreal Canadiens
For Kent Hughes and his team, this is excellent news. Zharovsky represents a medium-term project, but every small step in the right direction is reassuring. I really think the Canadiens are counting on him to add offensive depth in the coming years.
In my opinion, I think this kind of performance is exactly what he needed to free himself from the pressure and to silence his critics in the Montreal media.
Of course, the season is still young and he will have to continue on this momentum, but I truly believe the talent is there.
