Guy Boucher hired to support Martin St-Louis: new development
Yesterday, the hockey world shook as Guy Boucher's services were not retained by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In other words, he lost his job as an assistant coach to Sheldon Keefe. With Craig Berube taking his place, I guess the chemistry might not have been there.
There has been talk for a long time about hiring an experienced coach to assist Martin St-Louis in Montreal, and that man could very well be Guy Boucher.
Indeed, as an assistant alongside Trevor Letowski, Stéphane Robidas, and Alex Burrows, Boucher would be of great help.
"I've always felt like as a headcoach, Guy Boucher's message got stale quickly.
But I've also always felt like he would be a great addition to the #Habs' coaching staff. With a master's degree in sports psychology, he also has a very high hockey IQ."
We're talking about a hockey technician here. A man who explains the game like no one else. It's truly fascinating to hear him talk about hockey.
He definitely deserves to be behind an NHL bench, and it's very unfortunate that he lost his job with the Leafs.
A homecoming for him and a hiring by the Canadiens? I don't know what Kent Hughes thinks, but for me, it would be an automatic yes.
