Late last night, the Montreal Canadiens announced the passing of legendary goaltender Ken Dryden.

Today, the hockey world mourns the loss of Ken Dryden, who left us at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with cancer.
As the son of a devoted admirer of this giant of the net, I am deeply saddened by this news. Dryden, with his imposing 1.93 m frame, was not only an exceptional goaltender but also a passionate intellectual, a politician, and an inspiring author.
Who could forget his legendary stance, that relaxed silhouette leaning on his stick during stoppages, a symbol of unshakable confidence? This iconic image left a mark during his glorious years with the Montreal Canadiens, where he won six Stanley Cups between 1971 and 1979, capturing five Vezina Trophies and a Conn Smythe as a rookie.
Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, he embodied excellence and intelligence in a sport often looked down upon.

Geoff Molson Reacts to the Death of Ken Dryden

In a press release published by the Canadiens organization, owner Geoff Molson paid a heartfelt tribute to Dryden.
"Ken Dryden was an exceptional athlete, but he was also an exceptional man. Behind the mask he was larger than life. We mourn today not only the loss of the cornerstone of one of hockey's greatest dynasties, but also a family man, a thoughtful citizen, and a gentleman who deeply impacted our lives and communities across generations. He was one of the true legends that helped shape this Club into what it is today", said Geoff Molson, Owner and President of the Montreal Canadiens.

"Ken embodied the best of everything the Montreal Canadiens are about, and his legacy within our society transcends our sport. On behalf of the Molson family and our entire organization, I would like to extend my most heartfelt condolences to his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege to cross his path and know him on a personal level."
