Why the Canadiens Might Need to Rethink Their Plan Around Ivan Demidov

Despite a good start to the season for the Montreal Canadiens - collecting 12 points out of a possible 16 - a few weaknesses can already be seen.
Raising the question of whether the team can stay consistent over 82 games and even find success in the playoffs.
It's not easy to find a second-line center.
"I understand that he's only 19 years old and that the CH is opting for a gradual approach in the
Ivan Demidov file."
The Canadiens want to protect their young sensation, but they shouldn't put obstacles in his path.
Of course, at this time last year, the team wasn't in the same stage of its rebuild.
"But if that club really wants to move to the next level, they'll have to find a way to put him in a context more conducive to exploiting his immense offensive potential." Beaudoin added.
The Montreal Canadiens need to better surround Ivan Demidov
According to Marc-Olivier Beaudoin, what's being done now isn't enough.
"The chemistry is good with Kapanen and Newhook but... it's not enough."
Beaudoin believes the responsibility falls directly on Kent Hughes and his management team.
"He needs to be given offensive weapons to play with as soon as possible. And if it's not
Kirby Dach, then it'll have to be external help."
After all, he's not criticizing the Canadiens - he's pointing out a gap in the current lineup.
"Just to be clear, I'm not saying the Canadiens are "scrapping" him. A rough diamond like that doesn't get "scrapped." But if you want to aim for the big honors, be serious in your playoff race, and have a real chance of lifting the big trophy soon, it's a "must." - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
Personally, I think it's still a bit early, but it's an issue that's going to get a lot of people talking.
