Ivan Demidov in Montreal: big announcement from the Chicago Blackhawks
Kent Hughes has a chance to nominate Ivan Demidov at 5th overall for the Canadiens, but other teams must first avoid selecting him.
The San Jose Sharks are set to pick Macklin Celebrini, but there are three other teams ahead of the Canadiens.
The Ducks almost never select Russian players, so they can almost be eliminated from the equation.
That leaves the Blackhawks at 2nd overall and the Blue Jackets at 4th.
If the Jackets' choice is difficult to predict, as they have mentioned wanting a defenseman and then a forward after the change in general manager, it's become very clear on the Chicago side.
The Blackhawks would have made their choice, and it's not Ivan Demidov.
According to highly reputable Scott Powers, their choice will be defenseman Artyom Levshunov.
"Just so you're prepared, I'll be surprised if it's not Levshunov."
We're talking about one of the journalists with the best sources, who rarely makes mistakes.
If the rumors are indeed true and Kent Hughes intends to select Ivan Demidov, it is becoming increasingly possible.
