The Montreal Canadiens made a big move Monday morning by announcing the signing of an eight-year, $70.8 million contract extension with young star defenseman Lane Hutson.
I sincerely believe this contract solidifies the core of the Canadiens' defense for the next decade.
However, Hutson is not content with his Calder Trophy or his big contract. The young defenseman wants to continue improving after an impressive first season.
"I need to improve my shot and execute my plays faster," Lane admitted.
Despite his small stature, Hutson also stands out for his defensive intelligence.
"It's all about timing and reading the game," he explained, emphasizing his constant desire to push his limits.

The atmosphere was truly festive during the Montreal Canadiens' practice on Monday morning in Brossard.
Right after the announcement of his new eight-year contract, Lane Hutson experienced a scene worthy of a championship locker room!
Indeed, all of his teammates literally jumped on him to congratulate him.
The young defenseman, visibly moved, was overwhelmed by a wave of smiles and friendly pats-a true moment of unity within the group.
"Nothing but love for No. 48"
This is a beautiful proof of the place he already holds in the hearts of his teammates.
Wishing Lane and the Canadiens the best Thanksgiving!
