A few hours after Lane Hutson's $70 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens was announced, a funny scene took place in the Habs' locker room.
It showed just how much the young defenseman is appreciated by his teammates.
Monday morning in Brossard, the atmosphere was joyful around Lane Hutson, freshly rewarded for his wonderful rookie season, including a Calder Trophy.
But this wasn't the only proof of how tight-knit the players are.
Indeed, a few hours later, another hilarious moment was recounted by journalist Anthony Martineau from TVA Sports.
According to Martineau, defenseman Alexandre Carrier shared a rather amusing anecdote about Hutson, highlighting how humble the young player remains despite his huge new contract.
Alexandre Carrier on Hutson:
"He is so simple and humble that we were laughing in the room earlier, telling him that we all knew he wouldn't spend a single penny of that contract."
- Anthony Martineau
I think this is exactly the kind of personality that is good for a team. Hutson is a star player, but he doesn't act like anyone else.
And for a team like the Canadiens, building around a young player like him-talented and, above all, down-to-earth-is ideal. In my opinion, it's probably the best news of the week.
