Lane Hutson or Logan Mailloux on their way out of Montreal? Kent Hughes will soon have to make that decision according to Georges Laraque

When we think about the Canadiens' defensive prospects, we can't ignore the names Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux. They could potentially form the team's top defensive pairing.

What's certain is that both players are very dynamic and possess exceptional quarterbacking qualities. Mailloux has more size, while Hutson has better vision.

They are both highly regarded prospects, but according to Georges Laraque and Stéphane Gonzalez, one of them may need to be sacrificed.

With David Reinbacher, Adam Engstrom, and others also coming up in North America, there's serious congestion on the Canadiens' blue line for the upcoming seasons, and Kent Hughes absolutely needs to improve his top 6 up front.


In an ideal world, Justin Barron or Jordan Harris would be traded, but let's be realistic. They don't have the same value as Mailloux or Hutson.

Georges is adamant about not trading Hutson. As for Gonzo, he might be more inclined to trade Mailloux, but not at any price.

We all know it's coming. Kent Hughes will have to make some tough decisions. Other teams aren't blind, much less stupid. GMs know that the Canadiens' defensemen are attractive assets, and they will definitely try to include one in a trade for a top-tier player.
