Lane Hutson Reportedly Turned Down Contract Offer from Kent Hughes, Sources Say
We learned today, via the site DansLesCoulisses with information from Grant McCagg, that Lane Hutson and his agent reportedly rejected an offer from Kent Hughes earlier this summer.
While many expected the young Lane Hutson to sign a contract extension as early as July, it must be admitted that negotiations are stretching out between the #48's camp and the Canadiens' management.
Does this mean we should be worried? Not necessarily, but let's just say you shouldn't hold your breath until the contract is signed.
On his podcast, Grant McCagg stated that the Hutson camp received an offer from Kent Hughes, which they refused
Although Grant McCagg has a credible reputation, it's still wise to take his information with a grain of salt.
"According to McCagg, the former scout stated that Hutson and his camp received only one offer over the summer.
It did not meet the player's expectations, so he said rejected it.
Because these negotiations aren't moving very quickly, McCagg expects it to happen next summer."

We know the Hutson camp is negotiating firmly and feels in a strong position to get what they want, especially with the salary cap increase.
It will likely be the length of the contract that determines the negotiations, but there's little cause for concern. Hutson loves the Canadiens, and the Canadiens love Hutson.
For now, eyes are on
Luke Hughes in New Jersey. Once he reaches a new contract agreement, we'll have a better idea of what the financial future holds for Lane Hutson.
