First, Renaud Lavoie is categorical: Lane Hutson will not be signing a $10 million contract-far from it. He even goes as far as to say that with Kent Hughes' acquisition of Noah Dobson, the young defenseman's bargaining power is extremely limited.
"No chance Lane Hutson signs for $10 million.. his bargaining power is limited. I have no information saying this is going to get signed soon. We didn't sign Dobson to put him on the second power-play unit.. there will be competition. It's possible that he (Lane Hutson) starts the season on the second power-play unit. With Noah Dobson, we told him 'here are the keys to the Ferrari,' we signed him for 8 years, nearly $10 million."

Renaud also predicts that Lane Hutson's contract, if he signs for 8 years, will come in at $8.5 million.
That said, it was mostly Lane Hutson's father who drew the ire of Renaud Lavoie, after he criticized the U.S. Olympic team yesterday for not inviting his son to their orientation camp.
