Major announcement in the Canadiens organization and season over for the young forward Xavier Simoneau: Joshua Roy to join Laval?
It is increasingly talked about, but it wouldn't be impossible to see Joshua Roy being sent down to Laval to help the Rocket in their playoff push.
It would be unfortunate for the kid, who deserves to stay up, but at the same time, going down could be beneficial for his development, rather than languishing in the NHL.The organization has just confirmed some bad news in this regard, as Xavier Simoneau will undergo shoulder surgery and miss the remainder of the season. The Rocket really needs reinforcements, as they have lost a key player, despite his small stature.
According to Marco D'Amico, with 14 forwards, including two extras, the Canadiens could indeed send a young player to Laval. The logical choice would therefore be Joshua Roy.
"That's a major gut punch to the Laval Rocket, who already lost Jared Davidson indefinitely as well.
Big opportunity for Heineman, Farrell and Kidney to step up for the Rocket during their final stretch.
With 14 forwards currently on the Habs, could we see someone sent down?" - Marco D'Amico

This is a situation to monitor, but expect an announcement from the organization very soon.
