After Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, Kent Hughes' next acquisition could very well be Trevor Zegras.

At least that's what the rumors suggest, but so far, the American player has always stated he wants to stay in Anaheim.

It's perfectly normal, as it's frowned upon to publicly express a desire for a trade. Such statements can follow a player for their entire career, even the greatest like Patrick Roy.

However, in the case of Zegras, things might be changing. According to David Pagnotta, Zegras' close associates admit he needs a change of scenery, which is even desired.

"There is a strong belief, according to those close to Zegras, that he is open to a trade and a fresh start, but he's not just sitting around waiting for the trade to be announced." - David Pagnotta

Pat Verbeek, the Ducks' GM, is a very patient man. This can be seen with John Gibson, who has been requesting a trade for years.

Zegras is indeed waiting for a trade, but it could happen later than expected, even though negotiations are expected to be intense in the coming days.

"Trade negotiations are expected to intensify this week in the days leading up to the NHL Draft on Friday in Las Vegas." - David Pagnotta, who also believes a trade could happen later than this summer.

For the Canadiens and Kent Hughes, this means patience is required. The GM won't pay an exorbitant price for a player and sacrifice the team's future, so he will wait for the right moment or find another option.
