The Canadiens and Bruins prepare for another key game, as injuries to Alex Newhook and Kaiden Guhle force Martin St-Louis to rethink several important roles.
Let's be honest, the Canadiens are arriving at the Bell Centre with a lot of pressure.
They've lost four of their last five games and scored only one goal in their last two outings.
And now they have to face the Bruins who, by the way, are finding their rhythm again at the worst possible time for Montreal.
In all this, one decision stands out just before puck drop.
Joe Veleno takes on a bigger defensive role tonight
It has just been confirmed that Martin St-Louis will turn to Joe Veleno for the penalty kill.
"In Alex Newhook's absence, Martin St-Louis plans to turn to
Nick Suzuki and Joe Veleno to round out his penalty-killing units."
- Marc Antoine Godin
Honestly, I didn't really like that offensive test.
I don't think that's where he's at his most natural. But a defensive role could really help him.
In my opinion, it fits better with his speed, positioning, and instincts.
It could also allow him to stabilize and find a way to help the Habs.
That's exactly where Veleno will need to make his mark. And this game could say a lot about what comes next for his role.
