Jesperi Kotkaniemi and a first-round pick for future considerations? Many of you voted, and the verdict is in.

Indeed, my colleagues at the Habs & NHL site conducted a poll, asking whether you would accept KK's return to Montreal, along with a first-round pick, in exchange for future considerations. Similar to the Sean Monahan trade.

The big difference is that the Finnish player's contract runs until 2030, whereas Monahan had only one year left. Additionally, we're not talking about the same type of player.

We know how the Hurricanes' culture is such that they refuse to have tourists in their lineup and overpay players. However, KK is rotating on the fourth line, and there's no sign that his game is improving.

At almost $5 million per year, he could have been a bargain, but he's more of a burden for the Canes. He represents good insurance for the playoffs, but that's about it.

Regarding the poll, over 82% of you voted against Kotkaniemi's return to the Habs. When you consider that he would be accompanied by a first-round pick and that Kent Hughes wouldn't have to spend any players or picks, it's quite revealing of his very low value.
