Trade between the Canadiens and the Oilers: it's officially a big move
A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers has been officially completed, and it's a masterstroke by Kent Hughes.
Indeed, the general manager traded Brett Kulak to the Oilers in 2022, and this transaction was finalized during the most recent draft.
In the short term, it's a good trade for Edmonton, as Kulak has been a valuable addition to their team. However, when looking at the return acquired by the Canadiens, there's reason to rejoice.
Trade between Edmonton and Montreal: Kent Hughes' Home Run
The Canadiens received a 2022 2nd-round pick, a 2024 7th-round pick, and William Lagesson in this transaction. The 2nd-round pick alone is highly valuable.
For the Canadiens:
-Lane Hutson (Oilers' 2022 2nd-round pick)
-Rasmus Bergqvist (Oilers' 2024 7th-round pick)
-William Lagesson
For the Oilers:
-Brett Kulak Lane Hutson is destined for a bright future in the NHL. He's being touted as the next Quinn Hughes, which is quite significant.
Rasmus Bergqvist is an intriguing defenseman who was playing in Sweden's junior league. He's a project, much like Kulak was at the same age.
