Transaction between the Canadiens and the Predators involving Logan Mailloux and Yaroslav Askarov: big rumor

Although this is the first time we're hearing about a trade between the two, each has been linked to potential moves multiple times, especially the goaltender.

It is now confirmed that Yaroslav Askarov will be traded, as he has clearly requested to leave the Predators organization. He will not report to the AHL team this year.

It is therefore official that an important goaltender, likely the top prospect at that position, is available. In return, Barry Trotz hopes to acquire a high-potential prospect, and Logan Mailloux's name is in the mix.

Personally, I don't believe Kent Hughes is interested, but one shouldn't take him at face value. Given the Canadiens' salary cap situation, he can maneuver and be very creative.

The Canadiens have Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau as a duo, in addition to Jacob Fowler as a prospect. Adding a high-potential goaltender is not a necessity but rather a possibility.

If Kent Hughes can acquire Yaroslav Askarov in exchange for Logan Mailloux, he could potentially trade him again to a team in need of a good goaltender, which could offer a lot but has no salary cap space.

If he received a third-round pick for Casey DeSmith, I imagine he could get much more for Yaroslav Askarov.
