Since Monday morning, the rumors surrounding a Samuel Montembeault trade have been generating a lot of buzz.

Now the guys from 100% max on BPM sports reignited everything with a discussion that raises a very specific possible return, even though no one knows yet where this could lead.
The famous topic everyone has been talking about since Monday morning...
Each sentence is short because the reactions are coming fast.
And this topic hits a sensitive nerve among fans.
Especially because he's a very well-liked Quebec-born goaltender.

The debate between Max Lalonde and Olivier Paiement restarts the rumours

On BMP Sports, Max Lalonde explained that, according to David Pagnotta, Jakub Dobes' strong start to the season may have pushed the Canadiens to give more starts to Samuel Montembeault to "put him in the shop window," since teams like the Oilers could be interested.
Max added that he doesn't really believe it.
"Me, I don't think the Canadiens could trade Sam Montembeault for the simple and only reason that his name is Sam Montembeault and he's from Bécancour."

- Max Lalonde

Olivier Paiement replied that everything depends on what the Oilers would have to offer.
And that they obviously will not give up a player like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for no reason.
Max reminded everyone that Nugent-Hopkins is 32 years old with 276 career goals, but he still asked: is that really what you want?
Then Olivier dropped a trade proposal that instantly made everyone react:
"Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for Montembeault, I would do it! But I don't think the Oilers would be willing to offer that."

- Olivier Paiement
A simple statement, but one that completely changes the tone of the conversation.
In the end, the question remains open.
And honestly, I think this situation will continue to grow if Dobes keeps playing well and if Edmonton starts looking for a real number-one goaltender, because things can move quickly in this league.
