Lane Hutson impresses Canadiens fans with a very complete game and solid plays against Columbus, which is even more encouraging for the rest of the season.
And he answered in the best possible way: by playing with heart.
Greg Lanctot said it perfectly after the game:
"Coming in front of the media and saying he's not playing well enough, then immediately applying an improvement, that gives me even more respect."
- Greg Lanctot
The young defenseman was everywhere on the ice. He scored the tying goal with a little over a minute left. Let's be honest: without him late in the game, the Canadiens weren't getting a point.
A total domination by Lane Hutson in scoring chances
The guys at BPM also gave a striking statistic:
"He was on the ice for 76% of the Canadiens' scoring chances and only 4% of the other team's."
- FX Bénard
I think it shows how much he influences the game. His impact was huge all night. We're talking about a 21-year-old defenseman who is gaining more and more confidence.
In other news,
Zachary Bolduc got an opportunity on the first line. It will take time before evaluating the results of all these changes.
But we can at least see a bit of light.
I think the Canadiens never gave up. You can see that this group still wants to fight.
It's positive in a period where every point counts.
And to be honest, in my opinion, Lane Hutson is the most important player on the team. He's the spark plug in so many games.
Now, these kinds of games need to turn into wins.
