On the eve of a new season, the captain of the Montreal Canadiens reminded everyone that his greatest goal remains unchanged: to lift the Stanley Cup.

Nick Suzuki has never been afraid to show his ambitions.
But as reported by journalist Marc Antoine Godin of Radio-Canada, the 25-year-old center also has another, more personal dream: to represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
"A quick stop over on Ile-Bizard today where we caught up with Nick Suzuki. The discussion covered his Olympic aspirations, the arrival of Noah Dobson, and his summer training alongside Ivan Demidov and Patrik Laine." - Marc Antoine Godin
Since joining the NHL, Suzuki has quickly established himself as the heart and soul of the Canadiens. A natural leader, he has already proven he can perform under pressure, notably during the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.
Yet, despite his accomplishments, he knows his legacy will only be complete if he can bring the Cup back to Montreal, a feat awaited since 1993.
But behind this team goal, Suzuki also harbors international aspirations. The Canadiens captain is among those hoping to earn a spot on Team Canada.

Fierce competition at his position for Nick Suzuki to earn an Olympic spot

The competition will be intense, with an impressive depth of Canadian talent at center: Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Sidney Crosby, and many others.
"It's one of my big goals for this season," said the forward on the sidelines of the Asista Foundation golf tournament, of which he has been an ambassador for three years.

"I've wanted to play in the Olympics since I was very young, so it would be really exciting if it happened." - Nick Suzuki

But Suzuki believes in his chances, fueled by his consistent progress and his key role in Montreal. His versatility, defensive reliability, and ability to produce offensively could work in his favor.
These two goals, the Stanley Cup and the Olympics, reflect a player who thinks as much about the team as about his own growth. For Canadiens fans, seeing their captain aim so high is a sign of dedication and inspiration.
