The first two periods have just ended in Chicago, and the Montreal Canadiens have already had multiple power plays and a few brawls!

Yes, the tensions are high and the show is absolutely on, and one name is on everyone's lips - Ivan Demidov.
The young Russian prodigy impresses as much with his creativity as with his defensive commitment.
Even without a point on the board, he's dominating the conversation.
Journalist Anthony Martineau was among the first to point it out:
"We have to talk about that backcheck from Ivan Demidov. The young man is good with the puck - everyone knows that. But it's with plays like these that he shows his progress and earns the respect of his peers."

His colleague Nicolas Cloutier from TVA Sports added:
"That constant defensive backcheck by Ivan Demidov following Patrik Laine's turnover will earn him points."

Ivan Demidov impresses everyone in the first period with the Montreal Canadiens

Even without finding the back of the net, Demidov is already establishing himself as the most complete player on the ice.
Journalist Marco D'Amico summed up the key sequence of the period by writing:
"That backcheck from Ivan Demidov on the PP was *chef's kiss*"
