The young L.J. Mooney, a prospect for the Montreal Canadiens, made headlines again last night in the NCAA.

This time, the 18-year-old forward wowed everyone during the game between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and Boston College by scoring a stunning goal in the shootout.
It wasn't an official ranking game, but let's just say Mooney proved why he was chosen to play a key role and that he's not afraid of big moments.

L.J. Mooney is already turning heads at the University of Minnesota

In the sequence shared by the official Gophers account, we see Mooney calmly skate toward the net before spinning around and faking out the goalie with a precise shot.
Here's the clip in question:
His puck control is simply impressive. The talent is clearly there!
Money Mooney I like that nickname!
We can also see here a video clip of an interaction with the crowd by Mooney:
The young player, drafted 113th overall by the Canadiens in 2025, continues to show why several analysts, including Jacob P. Côté, have called him a true steal of the draft.
This confidence comes as no surprise to those who have followed his journey.
Already dominant in the U.S. Development Program, he recorded 28 points in 26 games last year.
In my opinion, if he keeps up this pace, the Tricolore may have found a future gem. Maybe the next Caufield?
And with a promising first NCAA season, his progress will be closely watched in Montreal.
