Lou Lamoriello confirms for Patrick Roy, and it's really major
Patrick Roy arrived unexpectedly with the New York Islanders, as Lou Lamoriello acquired him during a difficult period.
To everyone's surprise, the team qualified for the playoffs, and much of the credit goes to Roy. In fact, Lou Lamoriello was very complimentary of him.
"I don't believe he could have done better than he did," praised Lamoriello. "He exceeded the expectations we had for him, even though my expectations were high."
Patrick arrived under challenging circumstances, and Lamoriello made sure to highlight that.
"There were a lot of positives, but the transition wasn't easy. I take the blame for that. I placed Patrick in a very delicate position." - Lou Lamoriello
With all his experience and the number of head coaches he has worked with in his career, these comments from Lou are very commendable, especially since we know he is very demanding.
Patrick is learning from a master in team management and still manages to impress him! It's quite incredible!
Moreover, Lou wasn't going to conclude without confirming that both Patrick and himself will be back in their positions next year.
"Even if his future seemed assured, the Islanders' general manager wanted to quickly eliminate any doubt.
'The two gentlemen you see before you will be back next year,' indicated Lamoriello."

It is now confirmed; Patrick Roy will be at his post next year, and the expectations will be even higher. Do not underestimate the Islanders. As we can see with the Boston Bruins, when a team is well-managed and structured, it can make a huge difference.
