The rumors surrounding Sidney Crosby and the Montreal Canadiens refuse to die. Remarks recently made by his agent Pat Brisson even reignited the hopes of Montreal fans.
"It's always a possibility, you know. It's been several years now that Pittsburgh hasn't qualified for the playoffs. It all depends on how Sidney feels and how the team is doing.. He's not getting any younger. We want Sidney Crosby to be in the playoffs every year and to win another Stanley Cup or two. For me, he's like Tom Brady."

Obviously, that was all it took for social media to ignite and for various sports shows to make it their top story.
Crosby in Montreal: it can only happen under one condition
We know this: Sidney Crosby has loved Montreal since his early childhood. It would be perfectly natural for him to wear the tricolore uniform, and we can imagine that ending his career in Canada would carry special meaning for him.
"I understand," said Crosby.
"Believe me, having grown up a Montreal Canadiens fan, and not being too far from there, I understand their passion."
"I remember-I think it was my first or second year in the league-and I was in Montreal for a CCM event in June.
They were already projecting training camp lines for September.
I thought to myself: 'That's crazy. I've never heard anything like that.
They're so invested.'"
"And I understand why it happens and that kind of speculation.
It doesn't make things any easier when we're losing in Pittsburgh.
But at the same time, knowing that a team like that wants you, it's not the end of the world.
It could have been worse (he smiled)."

On the other hand, we also know that Sidney Crosby is a winner, and if he agrees to waive his no-trade clause this season, it will only be with the goal of joining a winning team, one that is contending for the ultimate prize.
It will therefore be up to the Canadiens to prove, by the trade deadline, that their core is already strong enough to make a deep playoff run.
We must not forget that Crosby's other logical choice, the Avalanche of his good friend
Nathan MacKinnon, will also be strongly interested in acquiring him.
If the Habs manage this season to stay among the leaders in the Eastern Conference, they will have the ammunition not only to make the best offer to Kyle Dubas, but also to convince Sid the Kid that Montreal is to be taken seriously in his pursuit of hockey's most prestigious trophy.
One thing is certain: the rumors will remain alive as long as the Canadiens can demonstrate that last season's success was only the beginning.
