Enormous statement about the return of the Quebec Nordiques
The return of the Quebec Nordiques is still highly publicized, and it will be even more so with this statement from Brian Burke.
Indeed, the former GM, President, and NHL employee believes that we are heading straight towards a 36-team league, and this within 5 years, so by 2029.
"We're talking about fees between 1 and 2 billion dollars per expansion franchise that will be added to the league. The 32 owners will dislocate a shoulder rushing to sign at the bottom of the proposal!"
This is huge, and coming from Burke, it's very credible information. He knows exactly how Gary Bettman and the 32 NHL owners operate, as well as everything that happens at the Board of Governors' table.
If we add to this statement the one from Renaud Lavoie, it becomes very interesting.
"Beyond the schedule and the playoffs, it's obvious that by adding four more teams (Quebec would virtually be assured of having a team), NHL hockey would be very different."
While Salt Lake City will have the Coyotes as early as next year, cities like Houston, Atlanta, Quebec, Kansas City, and others are back in the discussions.
Geographically, it's almost impossible for the Nordiques not to be included in the discussions with four expansions.
