Crazy trade between the Canadiens and the Ducks for Trevor Zegras: The proposed player doesn't have unanimous approval

Since the transaction sending Jamie Drysdale to Philadelphia and Cutter Gauthier to Anaheim, rumors about the future of Trevor Zegras have been swirling everywhere.

Obviously, the star forward is linked to the Canadiens because he is Cole Caufield's best friend, but also because there is known interest from the organization. After all, who would refuse to have Zegras in their lineup?

The burning question is, who to trade in return? To acquire a star forward, you have to give up something significant, and according to Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now, Kaiden Guhle would be a good return.

This certainly does not make everyone happy. Guhle is already a cornerstone of the Canadiens' defense at such a young age. Imagine what he can achieve in a few years. Here's D'Amico's explanation:

"We're talking about a star defenseman draft in 2024. Many left-shooting defensemen. We just saw one play with the United States, Zeev Buium, an interesting one. We can talk a lot about Sam Dickinson, who plays in London.

The Canadiens are likely to draft between, let's be honest, 8 and 12, and you might find a defenseman in that range in this draft. You can find a defenseman of Kaiden Guhle's caliber in that range in this draft. You won't find a player of Trevor Zegras' caliber." - Marco D'Amico

It's a significant statement, but not enough to convince all Canadiens fans. However, this will likely be the kind of price that needs to be paid to acquire him.
