Trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings involving Jake Allen: The Canadiens would receive a former 2nd-round pick in return

Kent Hughes is at a crossroads. He must now start focusing on his team's offense because it's quite pitiful.

The time to trade one or more young defensemen has come, and the pressure will only increase. The general manager has a job to do, and he knows it very well. Now, he must be willing to pay the price.

Another issue that has been dragging on is that of the goalies. Unfortunately, the goaltender trio has become a bit of a farce, and Kent Hughes absolutely must act before the March 8 deadline.

Luckily, the Los Angeles Kings are struggling in front of the net right now. Cam Talbot and David Rittich haven't been getting the job done for a while, despite Talbot's excellent start to the season.

Having a veteran like Jake Allen could greatly help them, and Elliotte Friedman shares this opinion. He even mentions that the Kings have put a forward on the market, which could be interesting for the Canadiens.

"32 Thoughts Podcast, On Los Angeles: Elliotte says he thinks they will move Kaliyev now and that it's been made clear behind the scenes his time has come to go somewhere else. He thinks the team would move him for a depth player with some edge." - Via NHL Trade Alert

Given the Kings' interest in Jake Allen, this transaction would make a lot of sense, and the connection is easy to make.

"Arthur Kaliyev: A big 22-year-old who can score goals. But not doing too well right now!

He's having a season below expectations in Los Angeles, but I would be curious to see what a change of scenery could bring him.

An interesting prospect for the Montreal Canadiens." - Via Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

The 33rd overall pick in 2019 would thus be added to the list of many young talents in the Canadiens, including Cole Caufield, Alex Newhook, and Kirby Dach. He has the potential to score 30 goals in the NHL, which is far from negligible, especially for the Canadiens.
