While here in Montreal people are worrying about Carey Price's contract, in Edmonton some fans are starting to panic over the fact that Connor McDavid still hasn't signed a deal.. And the latest news isn't good for them!
Connor McDavid is truly a phenomenon in the hockey world. The guy is a real machine on the ice! Since he was 18, he has dominated the NHL with astonishing ease.
Since arriving in Edmonton, McDavid has shown class and loyalty to the team that drafted him. He remains humble, focused, and far from controversies.
But for the first time since the start of his professional career, dark clouds are on the horizon.
Connor McDavid Could Sign with Another Team in July
While many thought Connor McDavid would be an Oiler for life, one must admit that his latest statement-regarding his contract, which expires at the end of the season-is hardly reassuring for Alberta fans.
"At the end of June, I told myself I was going to take my time with it, and I still think the same, to take my time and really examine everything. I truly intend to win in Edmonton this season. That's my only goal, maybe just after winning gold with Canada, but my goal is to win there. We are taking our time with contract discussions, with my family, my agent, everyone involved. So, we're moving slowly."

According to TSN's Chris Johnston, that deal may not get done before the 2025/26 regular season begins.
"If you had to pin me down, my guess is the season will start without him signing an extension."

Let's just say we've heard more convincing statements from players. McDavid sounds a bit like John Tavares did the year before leaving Long Island to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Let's hope McDavid doesn't do the same thing.. especially not sign with Toronto!
