An insider has revealed that Kent Hughes is planning something big
The NHL Draft is quickly approaching, and teams around the league are ramping up their preparations for this important juncture of the season.
Kent Hughes has reportedly been involved in several trade talks surrounding his fifth overall pick, as well as attempts to make a major trade similar to what he did last year for Kirby Dach.
In this regard, renowned TSN insider Darren Dreger recently divulged an interesting piece of information regarding the GM of the Canadiens.
"Kent Hughes has had many different trade discussions, and there is potential for the Montreal Canadiens to be a bigger player in these conversations, but it needs to make sense in the long term - and that means everyone from Dubois potentially down to the draft." - Darren Dreger, on TSN 690
The 2023 NHL Draft is shaping up to be very exciting for Montreal Canadiens fans. There are several possible scenarios on the table for the Tricolore, including the possibility of Hughes moving back in the draft to take advantage of Matvei Michkov's presence and potentially get a better offer.
As expected, they are also actively pursuing forward Pierre-Luc Dubois. If the CH can land him before the draft, it could drastically change their strategy at pick number five, or even if they decide to move back. With so many possibilities on the horizon, Canadiens supporters have plenty of reasons to look forward to next year's draft.
