In the last few minutes, an unexpected announcement was made in the hockey world as we learn that forward Sven Baertschi is officially retiring.
Baertschi, who was the 13th overall pick of the Calgary Flames in 2011, played 292 games in the NHL, scoring 66 goals and tallying 138 points.
Unfortunately, his career was greatly affected by numerous injuries. He recently finished a season in the Swiss National League, the same league where David Reinbacher played this year.
Baertschi ended the campaign with four goals and 14 points in 36 games with Bern SC.
