Plot twist: Arber Xhekaj traded before the draft? That's what a TV host believes, and he has good arguments

Arber Xhekaj played his first game since being recalled on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre. The towering defenseman looked good in the loss, finishing with a +1 differential.

While his recall was perceived as a move to help the Canadiens, during that time, Jordan Harris was left out. It's clear that they have different playing styles, and Xhekaj could have been useful against the Senators.

According to Jean-Charles Lajoie, the defenseman might be exposed for a trade.

"I know you love Xhekaj and don't want to hear about a trade involving him at all. But I repeat, I'm not at all convinced that the sheriff is part of Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes' plans in the medium and long term.

With all the talent the Habs will have on the blue line, especially on the left side, there might not be any room for Xhekaj, whose profile doesn't seem to be the preferred one for the organization's decision-makers.

So don't be surprised to see Xhekaj involved in a trade before the upcoming draft in June." - Jean-Charles Lajoie

Lajoie makes valid points, and I would add that there were a lot of people at the Bell Centre on Tuesday, coincidentally. Over 25 scouts, including three from the Dallas Stars, were present at the game.

I don't know if it's to see Jake Allen or a player from the Senators, but it's quite strange that it happened at the same time as the sheriff's return.

Did Kent Hughes put Xhekaj on the market when he was recalled? According to what he mentioned last week, it's not in the plans. To be continued...
