'I'm Not Worried': Martin St-Louis Defends Samuel Montembeault

It's no surprise to anyone that since the start of the season, Samuel Montembeault has been going through a tougher stretch than expected with the Montreal Canadiens.
But Martin St-Louis didn't hesitate to publicly show his support.
"Sam is a good goalie. He proved it with everything he did last year. Without Sam, we're not there last year."
- Martin St-Louis
I imagine he means that the Habs wouldn't have been in the race without Monty - and I completely agree!

The Canadiens coach also added that he understands what his goalie is going through, having experienced similar moments during his own playing career.
When I was a player, I had starts like that and when I had those starts, it's not like I forgot how to play hockey. Sam will be a big part of our success this year. I'm not worried"
Despite a 2-3-0 record and a .842 save percentage since the beginning of the season, St-Louis believes Montembeault will bounce back.
The message is clear - the organization isn't panicking, and I love to see that.
For now, everything indicates that the Quebec native will still have several opportunities to prove he deserves his spot - and rightfully so.
Personally, I find it truly admirable how St-Louis protects his players.
He's sending a message of confidence, and in a young locker room, that means a lot.
The Montreal Canadiens will wrap up their western road trip against Seattle - a game that might give Montembeault (if he gets the start) the chance to set things right.
