Another top 10 pick for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens

Published April 2, 2024 at 2:11 PM

According to Stéphane Leroux, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens have acquired another top 10 pick.

Indeed, the 2022 draft was very solid for the club's future. Juraj Slafkovsky is by far the best pick of his class so far, Kirby Dach was acquired via trade, and the 62nd overall pick could be quite a steal.

Indeed, despite Lane Hutson's small stature, he's quite the hockey player. According to prospect expert Stéphane Leroux, not only would the defenseman be drafted in the first round today, he would be a top 10 pick.

"Let's redo the 2022 draft, Lane Hutson doesn't just go in the first round, he goes top 10!"

- Stéphane Leroux

After more than 30 years covering prospects, Leroux knows exactly what he's talking about. He spends his holidays covering the World Junior Hockey Championship for many years, even sacrificing Christmas and New Year's.

We'll see what becomes of Lane once he reaches the professional ranks, but for now, everything points to him being the biggest steal of the 2022 draft.
