Last year's Stanley Cup certainly didn't stop Jonathan Marchessault. He's having quite a season and he just sent a powerful message to Martin St-Louis and the Canadiens.

Indeed, with his 40th goal of the campaign, Jonathan became the 4th undrafted player to achieve this feat, after Artemi Panarin, Jason Blake, and Martin St-Louis.

Here's what he had to say:

"I continue to prove everyone wrong a little: the analysts, the scouts, and the teams that never drafted me. They said I was lucky last year, in the playoffs. I'm a guy with character. I will never stop, a bit like Martin St-Louis. He has always been an example for me. If I can have half of his career, I will be really happy. He's a guy who inspires me. I never want to think too far ahead, I just want to help my team win."

The forward will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and he would be quite an addition to Martin St-Louis' team. The coach would be very happy to have one more character player in his ranks.

With the salary cap in the NHL, he's not getting his hopes up and he's aware that he'll leave this summer, unless there's a surprise.

Marchessault has already mentioned that he would like to play for the Canadiens. Knowing that his role model is the team's head coach, the fit seems perfect.

Let's go Kent Hughes!
