Anthony Martineau Fires Back at Georges Laraque's Harsh Comments on Patrik Laine
Those who tuned in to BPM Sports for the official start of the new programming were treated to some excellent radio moments yesterday.
Regular listeners know: Big Georges is not
Patrik Laine's biggest fan.
In fact, it's quite the opposite. Several times last season, the former star enforcer went after the Canadiens' Finnish star with full force.
To Georges' defense, Laine's inconsistent performances-which saw him completely disappear during the playoffs-were enough to frustrate fans who value hard work.
Anthony Martineau Responds to Georges Laraque: Laine Will Have an Excellent Season
"I don't think the Laine we saw last year with the Canadiens can be judged fairly, considering he played nearly all of his games with a knee that wasn't 100%. At his core, Laine isn't a speed merchant. He never will be. But the fact that he played despite a knee sprain-one of the most important parts of the body in hockey-practically cemented him to the ice."
-Anthony Martineau, TVA Sports
In the famous radio segment that stirred things up yesterday afternoon, Georges Laraque declared that not only would Patrik Laine fall far short of 40 goals by season's end, the winger wouldn't even play 40 games with the Canadiens. Anthony Martineau obviously disagrees.
"In my opinion, Patrik Laine will have a very big season. I'll even make a prediction (yes, I'm crazy like that): he'll score 35 goals and could even surpass that mark."
-Anthony Martineau, X
That should lift the spirits of fans who felt that good old Georges went a little too hard on Laine yesterday..
