The rumors surrounding Kent Hughes' potential acquisition of restricted free agent Mason McTavish have taken up a lot of attention this summer.
To the point where some fans can't stand hearing about it anymore.
In recent weeks, if you're a Montreal Canadiens fan who spends a bit of time on social media, you may have overdosed on rumors about the Ducks forward. we don't blame you. We'd even go as far as saying we understand you a little.
That said, since our site is called "All Habs," we don't really have a choice but to report the following news.
Sports Illustrated mentions the possibility of Mason McTavish being traded to the Canadiens
While Montreal journalists seem to have given up on McTavish-especially since Marco D'Amico loudly proclaimed that the young forward would not be leaving Anaheim-and have instead focused their attention on the rumors surrounding Carey Price's contract and his inevitable trade by Kent Hughes, American journalists continue to link the former 3rd overall pick to the Habs.
This is the case with Jacob Punturi, a journalist at the prestigious magazine Sports Illustrated, who wrote on the subject yesterday.
According to him, four teams still have a chance to complete a trade with the Ducks if they fail to reach an agreement with the young center: Montreal, Vancouver, Boston, and Detroit.
"The Anaheim Ducks are stuck in their negotiations with Mason McTavish. The former 3rd overall pick of the organization needs a new contract to hit the ice, but no progress has been made in the talks. September has now arrived, training camps begin in barely three weeks, and the rumors will only intensify until then."
