The Montreal Canadiens are taking their first major hit as young defenseman Bryce Pickford has been injured and will miss at least one day at rookie camp.

The Montreal Canadiens' rookie camp has just begun, and already the first injury has been announced.
Defenseman Bryce Pickford must sit out due to a lower-body issue.
The news was announced Friday morning. Pickford will not participate in today's practice. It's a tough break for him, as he was hoping to use this tournament to show his potential.

The Montreal Canadiens Lose Bryce Pickford Right at Rookie Camp

For a young defenseman, every practice and every shift on the ice counts. Missing time this early can make it harder for him to stand out.
No return timeline has been given, but I'm sure the team prefers to be cautious.
However, it's clear that Pickford will try to return as quickly as possible. I believe this type of injury, no matter the severity, can really complicate the path of a prospect trying to earn a spot.
Drafted by the Canadiens in 2024, he is known for his smooth skating and ability to join the rush.
Pickford, 19, collected 47 points in 66 games last season with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL.
In the meantime, this absence opens the door for other young players who will try to seize their chance.
