Montreal Canadiens Reportedly at the Center of a Major Rumor, per Mark Scheig
Yesterday, on the social network X (formerly Twitter), a conversation started by journalist David Pagnotta, in which a Columbus journalist participated, caught our attention.
David Pagnotta, a well-known journalist from TSN, first exclusively announced the dates on which the next NHL Draft will be held.
"The 2026 NHL Draft will take place June 26-27, 2026
NHL President of Content & Events Steve Mayer just confirmed with us live on
SiriusXMNHL.
He added host city is not yet decided; goal is to finalize that by end of this calendar year."
-David Pagnotta
Nothing to write home about, you'll agree.. until a Columbus journalist joined the conversation by sharing information that will please many Montreal fans.
The 2026 Draft would be held again in Montreal, according to a rumor advanced by a Columbus journalist
In response to David Pagnotta's tweet, journalist Mark Scheig, who covers the Columbus Blue Jackets, added that there is a strong rumor Montreal, the Canadiens, and the Bell Centre will once again host the Draft next year.
"Rumor has been Montreal. We'll see if that holds up but we got NHL Draft dates." - Mark Scheig
This is some major news because if the rumor holds, Montreal would host the NHL Draft for the second time in less than five years, sparking excitement for Canadiens fans and the Bell Centre.
Although Montreal was scheduled to host the Draft in 2020, it was postponed and held virtually due to the pandemic, and not at the Bell Centre.
Let's see if the rumor, which has been circulating for quite some time, will be confirmed in the coming months.
